Primary Purpose
The Director of Education is responsible for formulating and executing the academic strategy for UOW College as a teaching and learning organisation, as part of a broader executive responsibility to UOWC Ltd.
The role is accountable for ensuring the efficient and commercially viable development and delivery of high-quality programs with principal ownership of the planning, teaching methodologies/platforms, and strategic direction of a world-class learning experience. The Director of Education will ensure governance and quality frameworks are maintained to a level that allows all staff to perform in compliance with relevant legislation.
In order to succeed in this role, the Director of Education is responsible for building collaborative relationships with the Leadership Team, UOW, and other key stakeholders, and providing exceptional strategic and transformational thought leadership and innovation at UOW College.

About you
You are a strategic academic leader with strong commercial acumen and a collaborative leadership style.
Essential
- Relevant tertiary qualifications combined with international education and/or educational businesses experience
- Demonstrated excellence in academic leadership and management within a Higher Education environment
- Demonstrated experience in providing leadership in the development of scholarly, innovative and flexible approaches to teaching and facilitation of learning.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing strategic plans including (but not limited to) developing structured processes & metrics, budgeting and forecasting
- Demonstrated skills and experience in planning and managing a diverse education enterprise
- Professional experience/ understanding of the unique characteristics of managing commercial outcomes in an educational environment
- Exceptional leadership skills including demonstrated experience in developing leadership capability and driving sustainable culture change
- Strong academic governance and compliance skills including TEQSA, CRICOS, ASQA and ESOS requirements
- Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience in presenting and representing an organisation at internal and external events
- A strategic thinker and influencer with the ability to generate new and innovative ideas and approaches, and to solve complex problems and drive business outcomes
- Ability to carry out market research related to the higher education sector, employment demand and analysis of channel effectiveness
- Team leadership skills

- Certified proof of right to work in Australia
Desirable
- PhD in a relevant discipline
- Appreciation of the current environment and issues relating to the International Education/Pathways industry
- Experience in multidisciplinary project management.
- Teaching experience in one of the program areas offered by UOW College
- Strong negotiation skills to influence change / influence stakeholders
- Strong communication skills and proven ability to write reports
